I'm Michael Hutchinson
More often known as Dr. Hutch, I'm a cyclist, coaching consultant and writer.
More often known as Dr. Hutch, I'm a cyclist, coaching consultant and writer.
I was a pro bike rider for more than a decade, and won around 60 national titles on road and track. I rode at the Commonwealth Games and World Championships, and even won the Brompton folding-bike Worlds three times.
I offer consultancy services for riders, coaches and teams. This includes aero testing, mainly in a wind tunnel, and optimising tested solutions for real-world performance.
I'm also a writer, mainly on cycling, but occasionally on other things. I've written for the Guardian, the New York Times, the Financial Times and other papers, and I write a weekly column for Cycling Weekly magazine. You can see my books here.
I started out as an academic lawyer at Cambridge and Sussex universities. It means I know the difference between hermeneutics and semiotics, but otherwise I've almost completely recovered from this early misstep.
